Sefton Secondary Maths Challenge - a "Team Report"
The Sefton Mathematics Challenge took place on Wednesday 13th May at the Formby PDC Centre. Jemima Bissetm Lydia Chan, Sean Jones and Jamie Sumner, tell us what happened on the day.......
We arrived at the PDC with Miss Summers and did a time challenge with the other schools.
Working as a team, we had to answer as many difficult questions as we could in 20 minutes - it definitely got us thinking! We then split into 3 groups of 3 schools, and we were with Birkdale and Deyes High. We moved onto a logic challenge which involved us finding the value of the symbols - probably the hardest challenge. We then did a mystery challenge where, working as a team, we had to work out the colours of the shapes and how they were set out.
Next came a memory challenge where each team member took it in turns to looks at a range of information and images, remember and then recreate it. Finally, we took part in "Who Wants to be a Mathematician" and we answered 10 questions.
The team from Christ the King won, and we will now be moving through to the final!
