CTK - On the Airwaves
Thirty Year 7 pupils were given the opportunity to create their own radio broadcasts thanks to the help of the North Sefton City Learning Centre's portable unit. Andy MacLeod brought fifteen laptops with Audacity software that allowed them to record their radio broadcasts, edit their news items and add a variety of jingles, adverts and sound effects before turning them into P3 recordings.
The class based their broadcasts on the plotline of the novel, Abomination by Robert Swindells, which they had read earlier in the year. They created and scripted roles for newsreaders, outside reporters, witnesses, policemen and social workers. As ever, our pupils behaved in an exemplary manner, picked up the necessary skills very quickly and according to their feedback thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
