Welcome to Christ The King's Community Section
Once again this has been an extremely busy term for Community and Extended Schools. The success of the Comedy Trust has made its way into the local press and one of the Year 10 boys that took part in this course was called for an audition in Liverpool for the latest Willy Russell play. He didn't get the role but what a fantastic opportunity for one of our pupils who on his own admission would never have gone for anything like this before. Bet we see him on the stage one day!!
Another successful venture this term has been the collaboration between Christ the King and the Community Officers from Merseyside Police.
The Police came into school to talk to Year 11 pupils about knife crime and will be doing the same assembly for Year 10's after the exams. The Police also took a number of pupils on a mountain bike trip along with Mr Gannon who said he had a great time. The Police are also coming into school to chat with the Student Council and this has been very successful up to now and will continue in the future.
For future reference our Community Police Officers are called Mike and Ted and they are keen to get involved in more activities in school, one of which is a self defence class which we are looking to get off the ground next term.
Finally this term saw some of our Year 5 parents coming into school for an Open Morning to see what a typical day is like at Christ the King. It was a great success and our Cookery Club which is run by Mrs Williams baked some delicious cakes, they really showed off their skills. The morning consisted of a chat with the Headmaster followed by a guided tour of the school with Year 10 pupils acting as their guides. The parents then got the opportunity to observe some lessons and then it was back to the hall for a small performance which was absolutely fantastic. We hope to continue these open days and will keep you posted.
Thank you once again for your continued support!
