Careers
Careers education and guidance makes a major contribution to preparing young people for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of life. At Christ the King Catholic High School and Sixth Form Centre there is a planned progressive programme of activities that supports young people when choosing 14 – 19 pathways and beyond, that suits their interests and abilities and enables them to plan their career and sustain employability throughout their working lives.
Careers Program
At Christ the King Catholic High School and Sixth Form Centre, we recognise that high-quality careers education and guidance play an essential role in preparing young people for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of life beyond school.
Our comprehensive and progressive careers programme is designed to support students in making informed decisions about their 14–19 pathways and future career options. Tailored to reflect individual interests, strengths, and aspirations, the programme empowers students to make confident choices and develop the skills needed to thrive in the world of work and sustain lifelong employability.
In line with the Gatsby Benchmarks, our careers provision includes a wide range of enriching opportunities, such as dedicated careers lessons, university visits, taster days, and practical experiences including mock interviews with external professionals. These activities aim to provide meaningful encounters with education providers and employers, helping students to explore and understand the full breadth of post-16 and post-18 options.
We are committed to continuous improvement, and our Careers Programme is reviewed annually to ensure it remains current, relevant, and responsive to the evolving needs of our students. Through this commitment, we strive to provide every learner with the guidance and support they need to make well-informed decisions about their future.
At Christ the King Catholic High School and Sixth Form Centre, we firmly believe in the power of strong collaboration between school and home to support our students in achieving successful and fulfilling careers. We recognise that guiding young people through important decisions about their future can be both complex and challenging. To support families in this process, we provide a weekly newsletter featuring opportunities from employers, universities, and training providers, designed to assist families with informed advice and guidance. In addition, we offer a dedicated email contact for any queries, ensuring timely and proactive communication with parents and carers.

The Impact of the Careers Program
At Christ the King Catholic High School and Sixth Form Centre, we place great importance on listening to our students and valuing their interests, opinions, and aspirations. We actively encourage student voice, not only through formal feedback mechanisms such as surveys and evaluation forms, but also through meaningful conversations that allow us to better understand their needs. This ongoing dialogue enables us to continuously refine and tailor the careers guidance we provide.
Through the use of platforms such as Unifrog and Google surveys (forms), we are able to effectively track student engagement, monitor individual development, and identify emerging interests. Insights gathered from student activity—such as quiz results and participation in webinars—inform our personalised approach, ensuring that each student receives relevant and targeted support as they explore their future pathways.
