“Faith by itself, if it does not have action, is dead.”
James 2:17
The Faith in Action Award is a national scheme that helps pupils to live out their calling to serve by creating opportunities to be part of the lived faith of our school. They do this through different levels: belonging (bronze award), leadership (silver award) and innovation (gold award).
Parish visits for Mass and providing refreshments afterwards.
Visiting our feeder primaries to be a “ministry of presence” with pupils as well as supporting Celebrations of the Word and other activities with pupils.
Fundraising in school (cake sales, CAFOD Soup day, “Snowman Soup”, “Secret Sweeties”).
Supporting the Chaplaincy provision in school by taking a lead in liturgy, fundraising, collaboration and preparing activities.
Pupils who achieve the award attend the celebration event and receive their certificates off the Archbishop of Liverpool each year.
Giving to good causes is part of our mission to serve others. We aim to raise awareness and support different causes: locally, nationally and internationally. For example:
Macmillan Coffee Morning (led by CTK6 students).
Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children.
Freshfield Animal Shelter.
Southport Lifeboats.
Southport Foodbank with Compassion Acts.
Southport Soup Kitchen with the SVP.
Staff run from Liverpool to Southport for Queenscourt.
CTK Sleepover for Queenscourt.
Cake sales for various causes (also linking with Southport Learning Partnership’s designated charity).
Houses can vote for their charity each year. The chosen charities for 2024-25 are:
Bosco House: CAFOD
Seton House: CAFOD
Carlo House: Mary’s Meals
Savio House: CAFOD
It is my privilege to be the Chaplain for Christ the King. My role is to serve, guide and accompany all in our community to be the best versions of themselves - versions that have been created by God and given an abundance of gifts that need to be shared with others.
“For we are his masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works,”
- Ephesians 2:10
All at Christ the King come from different backgrounds and carry with them hopes and dreams, fears and anxieties. Chaplaincy is about walking with everybody, prayerfully accompanying others on their journey while providing opportunities to live out our vocation to put our faith into action through good works, prayer and service.
Pope Francis encourages a faith that is alive and full of joy. We have formal opportunities to pray that create senses of joy and we also provide opportunities for informal occasions to pray and live our faith that are full of laughter and happiness.
The Chaplain’s role, at it’s heart, is about presence and accompaniment. To be alongside pupils on their journey through life is a true blessing. All of this is done by witnessing to the Gospel, reflecting on our call to holiness and to bring hope and assurance that God is with us all - every step of the way.
We are served by our local priests (in the Deanery of Blessed Carlo Acutis) who offer continued support with Sacraments as well as ongoing visits to our school. We also work collaboratively with parishioners on different activities, including coffee mornings, digital projects, marketplaces and liturgical events (e.g. Advent Carol Service). There is a space in the school open every break and lunchtime for pupils who wish to meet with friends in a comfortable environment. Our Chaplaincy is also available for mentoring, Faith in Action meetings and other activities. The Chaplaincy is open to everybody.
