OVERVIEW

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate is a two-year course aimed at providing you with a high level of understanding of many areas of business. The units studied will focus on many aspects and functions of business and those completing the course will have a high level of knowledge about how businesses work. As a vocational course, the BTEC Diploma will also develop many skills, including time management, independent working and organisational skills.

STUDY

The Extended Certificate is a single award course on which you will study four units in total. These units comprise three compulsory core units which are: the Business Environment, Introduction to Marketing and Business and Personal Finance. The remaining one specialist unit will cover topics from the following pathway: Recruitment and Selection.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Business will allow you to develop the skills of innovation, teamwork, problem solving, communication and evaluation. These are the skills that are essential to study, training and employment and are the skills that employers are constantly telling us that they are looking for in staff. A BTEC Diploma can lead to employment in a variety of businesses from office administration to sales and marketing. Alternatively, you could apply to university for a degree or similar level course, as this qualification provides clear progression onto a BTEC Higher National or business-related degree.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

5 grade 9-4’s GCSE or equivalent (Merit if Level 2 Business qualification taken) plus English grade 4 and Maths grade 4
