As primary educators of your children, we want to support you to give them “life to the full” (John 10:10). The spiritual life of your child is vital for their ongoing well-being and to live out their potential. There are no instruction book for parenting so we are here to help, to share in the journey with you and to learn from you.
The Catholic Church teaches that home, school and parish should be a strong partnership with the outcome being children who have been given all opportunities to flourish and thrive - academically and spiritually as well as physically, emotionally and culturally. Together, we want to create a nurturing space for our pupils - your children - to grow, to learn, to serve and to pray.
We encourage you to pray with your children and to listen to their prayers. Spending time in prayer with each other can create a bond of deep connection. Sometimes it might just be a prayer of thankfulness for being together while other times it may to pray for special intentions of the family.
We pray every day at Christ the King which has scripture at it’s heart. You may wish to ask about these prayers to learn about what prayer means to your child and how they pray each day. You may encourage your child to give time to serving others, especially those who are poor or on the margins of society. Charity is about looking outwards, just as Jesus instructed us to “love one another.”
Your local church is also there for you. You can contact your local priest or you are always welcome to attend Mass or other services there. Even if you have been away for a while or you have never been before, the churches are always willing to welcome you and to support you and your family in your faith.
Faith formation is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to walking alongside parents and guardians as you nurture your children's spiritual growth. By working together - home, school, and parish - we hope that each child receives a strong foundation that will bear fruit today, tomorrow and for the rest of their life.
